The rand (sign: R; code: ZAR) is the currency of South Africa. It takes its name from the Witwatersrand (White-waters-ridge in English), the ridge upon which Johannesburg is built and where most of South Africa's gold deposits were found.

As you amass your fortunes in South African Rand from completing jobs, fighting, and collecting from the Shipyard Property you will want to secure your bounty. Like all the other destinations in Mafia Wars there is a Bank where you can save your abundance of cash. The Bank in South Africa is called the Rykdom Bank. Loosely translated, the Rykdom Bank is the Bank Of Wealth or Fortune.

Your The Rykdom Bank begins at level 0 and looks similar to an Umbrella Thorn. At this level you can secure only 1000 Rand in your Rykdom Bank. As you upgrade your Rykdom Bank your deposit limits will increase.

A 15% laundering fee will be taken out of all incoming funds.

You may ask “How do I upgrade the Rykdom Bank?”

• The Rykdom Bank can be upgraded using 5 parts, 4 of which can be collected from Feeds or purchased using RP and 1 part, Vault Code, that can only be earned by mastering any District to any level (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby) in South Africa.
• You can post a Feed for a specific Bank part every 24 hours, and can receive a maximum of 4 parts per Feed.

Post your part begs by clicking the ‘Ask Friend’ buttons on the Rykdom Bank page. This posts feeds to Facebook where your friends can,, and hopefully will, help you.

Your friends DO NOT acquire a part for there banks when they help others. These feeds can only be posted once every 24 hours and you can collect only 4 parts from them once a day. Gotta love Zynga and their tactics to try to get you to purchase RP’s.

Another twist is the Vault Codes are only attainable when you master a district. The Vault Codes are NOT purchasable.

If you want to know how many parts you will need to completely build the Rykdom Bank the chart below shows how many parts we expect should be needed to upgrade each level of the Rykdom Bank;

**NOTE** Since there are only 3 districts currently available you can only collect 12 of the Vault Codes. This will halt any player from upgrading the Rykdom Bank to level 5. This brings up the question ‘will more levels to the Rykdom Bank be added when more districts are opened?’

South Africa – The Guided Tour (Part 1) The Opening

 

 

Who knows what awaits in the wild.

Springbok’s jump for joy as they log into Mafia Wars today. The Safari guides get busy gathering their maps as the tourists prepare themselves for the days adventures.

Make sure you have plenty of RP because South Africa has been released.

As you log into Mafia Wars for the first time today you should be greeted with the following image;

Upon clicking the enter button you should be welcomed for completing the Dust To Diamonds Quest. You should also collect your Wild Beast and 600 Rand.

Upon clicking the ‘continue’ button you are greeted with a map of South Africa. You are asked to click on the map to visit the Cape Town region.

Upon clicking the map you are taken to the Western Cape region of South Africa.

By clicking on any of the 5 encircled images on the map you will be redirected to the jobs page.

In South Africa there is one job image for a pair of jobs.

Certain jobs will require the purchase of certain loots before you can proceed. The 2nd job, Steal The Cargo Of Diamonds, requires the purchase of 2 Code-Eina at a cost of 18 Rand. The same job also drops a loot (Kuba Cap) that will be required for the completion of additional jobs. ** Some players are acquiring 30 Kuba Caps from their notifications on Facebook. Of course many players don’t get these free gifts. So much for a fair and level playing field.

 

As you complete the jobs the map will reflect your progress

As you complete the first region you will be rewarded with a Paso-Pop and a Vault Code.

You will also unlock the second region – The Limpopo River.

Ice Season 29

Ice Season 29 is underway. The reward for acquiring 8, 25, 80, 180 and 1000 ices is a Cambodian Snake of Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby, or Diamond level respective to the number of ices acquired.

Each tier of also rewards the follow loots, RP’s, or skill points.
