Zynga is advertising a new feature, that will be called The Arena, with a banner (shown above) that reads; “Memento Mori; Prepare for the greatest fight yet”.
The Latin phrase Memento mori can be translated as "Remember your mortality", "Remember you must die" or "Remember you will die" (source; Wikipedia; Memento Mori)
As you already know we have been collecting Power Cards for days now. We have been collecting these cards to be rewarded with an Abetter.
We have also been clearing away an overlayed image to reveal that The Arena is coming soon.
This is leading many of us to wonder what The Arena is.
We do know from the clues that Zynga has provided us with The Arena has everything to do with fighting. Exactly what that entails we won’t know for certain until it is opened up. We can, however, speculate as to what it might be.
I am hoping that The Arena will replace the current fight lists and be along the lines of what I suggested over a year ago on Get Satisfaction (Zynga is no longer on Get Satisfaction).

The Union Hall is suggested on the Mafia Wars Blog and is supposed to allow one to build, collect, and upgrade your properties for all your cities from a single location. It got me thinking, why not do something similar for fighting and robbing. In addition to a Union Hall there could be an Arena where the fighting can be done. Everyone is/was complaining about fight lists that are/were filled with players that were already iced or the targets were too strong. My idea is to allow people to opt into fighting and volunteer (of sorts) to become the target. When you click I'd like to fight another individual could click agree to fight. Those two are now in an active fight among each other and get to duke it out using either their sp att def or mas/mds or a combination thereof. in essence, It could be similar to the tournaments in Vegas except you choose to fight and/or select your target from those waiting to fight. No more dead fight lists. No more bickering about not finding targets.
We, here at Mafia Spirit, are anxiously awaiting the release of The Arena to find out if it will in fact be what was suggested above. We believe that what we suggested would be a great benefit to Zynga and Mafia Wars. This kind of feature could lead to many former players returning to the game and would allow players to play at their own pace and without the high pressure of having to play Mafia Wars 24/7.
If The Arena is just another fighting feature that favors the strong players then we fear another mass exodus could ensue and Mafia Wars will soon follow Vampires Wars as yet another Zynga discontinued game.
