The 6th Installment of the Family Inheritance reruns have started.
And, yes, we are as excited about these leaderboard type of events as much as Fred “Rerun” Berry expresses in the image of him above. We all continue to wonder ‘What’s Happening’ to Mafia Wars? The problem has been the same for years. Zynga caters to those few who have deep pockets. Those few are paying to win these perks and prizes. They are the only ones who we see as competitive in these events. And that is why these events SUCK! Ultimately, this kind of practice WILL kill Mafia Wars. Nobody wants to chase a dream forever! Eventually people grow weary of the chase and move on to something more attainable.
Those players at the top, who may be the ones winning these rewards every time, will tell me that if I don’t like it then I should quit! They will tell me to stop my whining. They will tell me I have no right to say anything since I didn’t pay anything.
Since it is the same players who repeatedly win these types of events over and over and over again that gives me the right to say something about it! Why? Because it makes them too strong to compete with! It gives them an unsurpassable advantage in the game. It hinders the competitiveness of the game. It drives players away from the game. And most of all, it IS insulting to my intelligence!
Zynga could easily make these types of events better by simply rewarding the top 10 players in each family the reward points as opposed to those select few who are at the top of the global leaderboard’s each time. This would make the game more competitive overall as opposed to giving those few at the top dominance over the rest of us. More players would participate in these events if they actually had a chance to compete in them. More players might even purchase more RP’s, if they had a reason to. But why bother when the cost is burdening.
Even the requirements to earn the loot item is too difficult for too many players. The 6500 Crests requirement has never been met by many players nor families in Mafia Wars. It’s not for a lack of trying neither. Most of us simply don’t have the time to sit and play this game from dawn ‘til dusk. When a game takes more work, even with the use of scripts, the game developers have failed the players. The game developers have failed themselves.
In the end this will be yet another event that too many will sit and watch while they hope for the best. Let’s just hope they don’t grow too bored watching the ‘Rerun’!
