Arena Power Up – Freeze Boost

The Freeze Effect freezes your Arena targets cold for 10 seconds.

The Freeze Effect occurs when you use a Freeze Boost on a selected target while fighting in The Arena.

 

 

 

 

 

The Freeze is a New Arena Power Up. It can be built using for a cost of 2 Power Cards. The Freeze Boost is also purchasable at a 1:1 rate. That means it will cost you 1 RP for each Freeze you purchase using RP’s. When you fight in the Arena you will be rewarded with 10 Freezes.

I only ran 1 test in the Arena, therefore, I am uncertain if this is a 1 time reward of 10 Freezes or if it’s random or if you are rewarded with 10 Freezes each time you fight in The Arena. If you know, please let us know by commenting your findings on our Facebook Fanpage.

A Home Away From Home – A Charity Sales Event

 

Housing Volunteers Needed -

Duties Include – Purchasing Housing Volunteers at a cost of 1 for 40 RP to help support the Fisher House Foundation.

 

In addition, you are asked to obtain and maintain a Family Beach. Keep up on the Family Beach maintenance. Locate it’s doors.

The more RP’s that you contribute the more Housing Volunteers and/or Family Beaches you acquire. In addition to helping the Fisher House Foundation.

The pay scale for your contributions as a Housing Volunteer is the acquisition of the title ‘The Philanthropist’. In addition you will also get your face into game as an NPC (Non-Playable Character). Most likely you will be a family boss that the Mafia Wars players will get to fight. It is possible that your npc will appear in missions or other locations as well.

Freeze – Coming To The Arena

A new item, called Freeze, is now in the inventory. On the item details of the Freeze loot it indicates that the location of this item is The Arena.

Since there are no Attack nor Defense stats associated with this item one might speculate that this item will be a new boost of some sort for The Arena.

If you compare the item to all the current boosts in The Arena you should see one noticeable difference. That being, all the current boosts have a location of Fighting. Whereas, the freeze items location is The Arena.

Since the Freeze item has a type of Extra, it is indicative of an Arena type special event may be coming soon.

Mafia Spirit – The Trend Setter?

Our blog (Mafia Spirit) may not be as popular as some of the other blogs are but that doesn’t stop us from doing what we do. That being posting about the Mafia Wars game features and other game related news from our perspective.

We have taken a lot of heat from a certain blogger in particular since we began our blog in August 2011. We have been accused of everything from plagiarism to removing watermarks from images to being a copycat blog.

We have taken strides and measures to set ourselves apart from all the other blogs. We come up with our own ideas and attempt to add our own spin or flare to our ideas and posts.

I just want to ask, what is another Mafia Wars Blogger to do when the most popular Mafia Wars related blog has to blog about everything that is Mafia Wars related? In addition, they have to be the first and take credit for anything and everything related to or posted anywhere that deals with Mafia Wars.

I guess I should be flattered that our ideas do influence others to duplicate what we do. Although our blog isn’t overly popular nor is it the #1 Mafia Wars fan blog, we do make an impact on the community and the game.

Our latest idea was to ask players what their tasks are/were for the Daily Fix feature. We posted our question on our Mafia Spirit Fanpage on Facebook Monday evening (February 25) at 9:16 pm EST.

By 6:30 (EST) this morning (February 26, 2013) another blogger began asking the exact same question.

It is even proclaimed in the image above that the question regarding the Daily Fix tasks was posted earlier by Vla (see that post below).

The Vla post was in fact made earlier, but still not as early as our original question was posted on our Mafia Spirit Fanpage.

If you delve deeper then you will also learn that Mafia Spirit was the first to suggest that the Daily Fix feature will be progressive. That suggestion was made on our More On The Daily Fix post which was published February 25 at 9:52 pm (EST). 

The exact same suggestion was later made on the other, more popular, blog. 

Here’s a closer look at the similarities;

Whether the more popular blogger visits us or they get 2nd hand news from others, It should be clear now that Mafia Spirit does in fact inspire others within their ideas and writings. 

Daily Fix – Day 2

The ‘Daily Fix’ has entered into it’s second day. To get started you must have enlisted into the feature.

If you did enlist into the feature then the banner is possibly no longer among the Featured Events.

You can find the Daily Fix on the HOME page in the Game Progress module. To continue your participation in the Daily Fix you must click the start button

Once you click the start button you should be taken directly to your Daily Task. For example, in the image to the left the player’s daily task was to rob 2 times in London. When they clicked the start button they were immediately directed to the London robbing board where they could easily complete today’s task.

Alternatively, you can access your Daily Fix Tasks from your profile page.

 

Once you’ve completed your daily task be sure to collect your prize by clicking on the collect button.

You should get a nice pop-up which reveals to you that you have completed your daily task and what your rewards are.

 

 

If you check your Daily Fix progression you should now see something that resembles the following image;

It’s, also, never a bad idea to check your inventory to ensure that you did, in fact, receive your prize.

If you completed yesterday and today’s tasks you should now have 2 Twice Shy loots in your inventory.

More On The Daily Fix

Many players are curious about the ‘Daily Fix’. Some because they don’t have it yet and others simply because it’s a new feature. Then there are those who already decided that they don’t like it because it’s too slow or will take too long to master.

It is my belief that this event will be progressive. Meaning, as we reach Silver, Gold, and Ruby levels the tasks will become progressively more difficult. Remember that this is Zynga that we are talking about. Therefore, rest assured there will likely come a point when players will likely need to spend some RP’s.

With that said, we can enlighten you with some facts that were not mentioned in the FAQ’s

1. It has come to light that not all players will have the same task on a given day.

Some players had to do 5 jobs in London.

Some had to rob 2 times in New York.

And some had to fight 6 opponents in Chicago.

There are many other possible tasks that players had to do. We asked on our Mafia Spirit Facebook page which task you had so that we could see all the possibilities.

 

2. For those who had to do 5 jobs in London the jobs in the ‘Round and Round’ Secret District counted toward the task.

3. For completing the task today you are rewarded with a Twice Shy.

 

4. The Daily Fix is designed to try to get you to play daily.

Daily Fix – A Zynga Fix To Slumping DAU

Sam Hadwick has come out of hiding. He makes his return to Mafia Wars to be the mastermind of a new feature that is designed to keep you playing every-day. The feature that he is in command of is called ‘Daily Fix’.

It would seem that Zynga itself is in the process of ‘Daily Fixes’ throughout it’s corporate structure or rather it’s corporate re-structure. With office consolidations in Texas and and New York along with the studio closure in Baltimore Zynga hopes the it will be be able to focus it’s resources on their most strategic opportunities. In other words, Zynga will be focusing more on it’s on-line gambling opportunities.

As all of you know, we’ve talked a lot about one of our key strategies for 2013 is driving long term profitability.  With that mindset, we are finding ways to improve our business that position us better for our future success.  Today we have an update about some office changes for some of our US locations.

In an effort to leverage resources as we focus on creating franchises and driving profitability, we are consolidating three of our offices.  We are closing the McKinney, Texas and downtown Austin offices and relocating those teams near-by to our existing Dallas and North Austin offices.  And, we will be consolidating our NYC offices to move staff to our NYC mobile studio.

Today’s changes also include the decision to close the Baltimore studio. Whenever we make changes like this, we have to make some tough decisions around products, teams and people. We were able to relocate everyone in the Baltimore office who requested a transfer, and the overall impact of the consolidations on our team is minimal.

These changes will further enable us to focus our resources on our most strategic opportunities. We’re already working to execute on leveraging franchises to build the largest game network and be profitable on an adjusted EBITDA basis. We still have a lot of work to do, but I’m confident that we’re on the right path to deliver on the potential of Zynga.

Enlist in the Daily Fix Program to perform daily tasks and master the Tiers to earn amazing daily rewards.

In order to maintain the stability of this feature, we are rolling it out gradually. Some of our players may not be able to see the Daily Fix feature on their accounts right now.

Q: What is Daily Fix?
A: Daily Fix is a new feature in which you have to complete featured daily tasks and earn Daily Clips. Upon successful completion of these tasks, you will be eligible to collect daily rewards. There are various mastery levels and Rewards based on the amount of Daily Clips earned.
Q: How do I start?
A: Join the program by clicking on the “Enlist” button on Home Page module.

OR

Clicking on “Enlist” will remove the Home Page module and you will be redirected to the Daily Fix main-page.

Click on “Start” to start working on your first Daily Task. Clicking on Start will take you directly to the featured task.

Q: How can I access Daily Fix after enlisting?
A: Once you have enlisted yourself into the program, you can access Daily Fix directly from the Game Progress section or from the Profile page:

Q: What are the Rewards? How does the program work?
A: After enlisting yourself into the Program, you will be required to complete Daily Tasks allotted to you and earnDaily Clips. Daily tasks will reset at 12 Midnight Pacific Time every day.

Upon completing the tasks, you will see a “Collect” button on the Daily Fix page.

Click on “Collect” to receive the rewards for that day. Collecting the reward will register your Daily Clip for the day.

Please note: You are required to collect the Rewards every day by completing the tasks and clicking on “Collect” button. These rewards will NOT be credited to your account automatically.

Once you enlist into the program, you will be able to see the following sections on the Daily Fix page:

A. Mastery Tier progress bar:

This bar indicates the Mastery Tiers of your Daily Fix program. Each section of the Mastery Bar indicates Daily Clips earned successfully.

Daily Fix program counts your progress for the last 28 days from the current day and in order to reach the highest level of mastery (Ruby Level), you are required to complete at least 21 daily tasks out of 28.

Below are the various Mastery Levels and associated Daily Rewards:

1. Bronze Level: Achieved after earning at least one Daily Clip in the Daily Fix program in the last 28 days.
After you achieve the Bronze Mastery Level, you will be eligible to collect one Special Loot every day from Home Page after completing the task for that particular day.

2. Silver Level: Achieved after earning at least 8 Daily Clips in the last 28 days.
After you achieve the Silver Mastery Level, you will be eligible to collect a daily reward of 3x Special Loot and 1 random Arena Power UP from Home Page after completing the task for that particular day.

3. Gold Level: Achieved after earning at least 15 Daily Clips in the last 28 days.
After you achieve the Gold Mastery Level, you will be eligible to collect a daily reward of 7x Special Loot and 3x random Arena Power UPs from Home Page after completing the task for that particular day. You will also be eligible for Bronze Level help for your Family Progression.

4. Ruby Level: Achieved after earning at least 21 Daily Clips in the last 28 days.
After you achieve the Ruby Mastery Level, you will be eligible to collect 15x Special Loot and 3x random Arena Power UPs and 1 Reward Point every day from Home Page after completing the task for that particular day. You will also be eligible for Bronze Level help for your Family Progression.

B. Daily Clips and Daily Task Status:

On the Daily Fix page, you will be able to view the number of total Daily Clips collected in the past 28 days:

After completing the task for present day, you will be able to collect the Rewards from the Daily Fix page or the Home Page:

Once you collect the Rewards, you will receive a confirmation of credited Reward and the Daily Clips status will be updated:

Q: If I am unable to complete the Daily Tasks for a given day, will I have to start all over again?
A: No, the program is designed to count the overall number of Daily Clips collected in the last 28 days from the present day.

Missing a Daily Task may cause a delay in achieving mastery tiers but you will still remain in the Program as long as you have enough number of Clips required for any of the Mastery Tiers.

Q: How does Family Progression Help work?
A: When you reach the Gold Tier of Daily Fix, you will also receive Bronze level of Family Progression along with the Daily rewards.

Once you complete the daily task and click on “Collect”, the Family Progression will automatically completed to Bronze Level as well.

Q: What will happen if I am unable to earn Daily Clips for the last 28 days?
A: If no Daily Clips are earned in the last 28 days, you will automatically be removed from the program and will have to Enlist again to continue enjoying these benefits.
