I don’t know about you, but I have been waiting for the Goliath Tigerfish to appear in Mafia Wars.
I don’t usually write about Limited Edition loot items. But I like this one.
When your name is Goliath, you'd better be one humongous, ferocious creature, and the Goliath tigerfish (Hydrocynus goliath) definitely lives up to its moniker. A native of the Congo River basin, the Lualaba River, Lake Upemba and Lake Tanganyika in Africa, it's the largest member of the tigerfish clan, a genus of fierce predators with protruding, daggerlike teeth. The biggest one on record was nearly 5 feet long and weighed 154 pounds, the equivalent of a super-welterweight prizefighter. And it outclasses other African game fish in speed and power.

The Tigerfish is now available in the Marketplace as a Limited Edition Loot and is purchasable at a rate of 1 for 35 RP or 501 for 17,535 RP’s. Guess how many I’m buying.
Why am I soo interested in this loot item and not the hundreds of others that have been Limited Edition Loot items?
Because River Monsters on Animal Planet is one of my favorite TV shows.
River Monsters will be back for it’s 5th season on Sunday April 7th at 9 pm.
The Tigerfish is quite possibly the most ferocious of all fresh water fish. Just look at the teeth on this monster;

The goliath tigerfish has sharp, triangular teeth that interlock like scissors. These can easily take lumps out of other fish, even crocodiles, and there are well-documented stories of these fish taking chunks of flesh out of people.Image Credit: DCL
The goliath tigerfish is considered the African equivalent of the South American piranha. There are two big differences between these fish though: piranhas hunt in packs while the goliath tigerfish is a solitary hunter, and the goliath tigerfish is absolutely enormous compared to the piranha.

The goliath tigerfish lives in one of the most remote regions of the world: the Congo River in the heart of Central Africa, where very few outsiders go. The difficulty in reaching its habitat only adds to the difficulty of the catch.
